The book Digital Cancer was written to protect mental health
Millions of citizens urgently need psychiatrists and psychologists because the care system cannot meet the current demand and the pressure on the psyche is growing. At the same time, youth mortality is on the rise – suicides and severe mental disorders are alarming. Social networks and smart technologies are gradually and subtly destroying the psyche of the young generation. Constant comparison with unrealistic ideals, high levels of anxiety, depressive states, chronic stress, exhaustion, social isolation and feelings of inferiority cumulatively undermine mental health. This phenomenon can be described as a digital cancer – a civilizational threat that requires urgent attention from society and politicians and measures to protect people’s mental health.
